Caren L. Pollack

A former prosecutor, Ms. Pollack has defended municipal entities and their employees in state, federal and appellate courts since 1988. She has represented the City of Indianapolis, the State of Indiana, Indianapolis Public Schools and other municipalities throughout Indiana in several cases which garnered national media attention. She presents instructional seminars to police departments, insurance companies and attorneys on issues relating to topics such as municipal liability and trial strategies.

Ms. Pollack graduated from Washington University in St. Louis in 1982 and attended the University of North Carolina School of Law in Chapel Hill, graduating in 1987. She worked as a deputy prosecutor for Marion County from 1987-1988. She began practicing in the private sector in 1988, defending public entities and commercial enterprises in civil rights, wrongful death and serious injury cases.

Ms. Pollack defended the precedent-setting and frequently-cited cases of Hupp v. Hill, 576 N.E.2d 1320 (Ind. Ct. App. 1991) and Tapia v. City of Greenwood, 965 F.2d 336 (7th Cir. 1992). Her other important decisions include Ritchhart v. Indianapolis Public Schools, 822 N.E.2d 982 (Ind. Ct. App. 2004) and Board of School Commissioners of the City of Indianapolis v. Pettigrew, 851 N.E.2d 326 (Ind. Ct. App. 2006), among others.
